Sâmbătă, 11 iunie 2016, începând cu orele 17:00, la Sala Mică a Casei de Cultură din Constanța va avea loc conferința “Cele șapte păcate ale vieții virtuale”, susținută de profesorul american Read Schuchardt, a doua dintr-o serie de conferințe pe care Dr. Schuchardt le susține în această perioadă în România, la București și Alba Iulia.
Dr. Read Schuchardt, aflat pentru prima oară în România, este profesor de comunicare la Wheaton College, Illinois, SUA. Fost publicitar și doctor în Ecologie Media al Universității din New York, sub îndrumarea celebrului Neil Postman, în prezent lucrează la o carte intitulată: “A fi prezent în epoca absenței: Cele șapte păcate ale vieții virtuale“. Senior Director la IITSC – International Institute for the Study of Technology and Christianity – Institutul Internațional pentru Studiul Tehnologiei și Creștinismului. Are nouă copii, împreună cu soția sa, Rachel.
În conferința “Cele șapte păcate ale vieții virtuale”, Dr. Read Schuchardt analizează dispozitivele noastre digitale – de la smartphone-uri la laptopuri și “cloud” pentru a înțelege care este de fapt prețul ascuns al acestor uimitoare tehnologii care ne economisesc timpul și ne fac munca mai ușoară. Iar prețul ascuns pe care-l plătim este foarte mare:narcisism, ignoranță, nerăbdare, dependență, desensibilizare, lipsa oricărui scop și deztrupare.
Alături de singurătate, depresie și de sentimentul că nimic nu are sens, aceste șapte vicii sunt semnele unei crize în adevăratul sens al cuvântului; ele sunt un real pericol și o ocazie pentru creștini de a deveni conștienți de el, de a-și schimba modul de viață și de a se debarasa de obiceiurile și obișnuințele impuse de noile media. O prezentare savuroasă, care deopotrivă amuză și ridică semne de întrebare, destinată atât credincioșilor, cât și celor mai puțin apropiați de biserică.
Conferința va fi urmată de lansarea cărții Procesul lui Darwin, semnată de Phillip E. Johnson – una dintre cele mai bine argumentate critici ale darwinismului scrise vreodată – publicată recent de Editura Anacronic.
Organizatorii evenimentului sunt Colegiul Sfinții Martiri Brâncoveni și Arhiepiscopia Tomisului. Gazda evenimentului va fi Silviu Man.
Conferința va fi tradusă în limba română.
